John Carmack, Co-Founder of id Software Officially Leaves The Studio

John Carmack, the co-founder of id Software and the lead programmer of the popular Doom franchise and other id games such as Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, Rage, and Commander Keen, has officially resigned from id Software because he could not divide time between Oculus VR(which he joined as it's CTO) and id Software. John Carmack made his resignation public by tweeting it on November 23:

id Software's studio director Tom Willits has commented on John Carmack's resignation, telling Gamasutra that this will not affect any of the projects of id Software.
