[Rant] People Are Demanding A PG-13 Version of Deadpool And It's Absolutely Stupid

Deadpool gets an 'R' rating, to no surprise. Official Deadpool uncensored trailer.

Apparently some parents are petitioning that the Deadpool movie, a movie of an anti-hero originating from comics which are full of violence and had the themes of sex as well.

There's one particular petition that has been making it to the news as of late, a petition on Change.org started by a 'Grace Randolph' that says:
20th Century Fox, please release a PG-13 version of Deadpool IN ADDITION to R rated cut.

While many are straightly pointing out why this is wrong in so many ways, some people actually seem to be supportive of this idea, including a somewhat known YouTube channel called 'Beyond The Trailer', who uses words such as 'look Matthew in the eye and tell him the party is happening, and you're not invited'.

First of all, lets look into the facts. Most of Marvel's super heroes' movies are PG-13, which include movies like The Amazing Spider-man, the X-Men franchise, Iron-man, Thor, Avengers, Captain America, and the list goes on. There is no shortage of super hero movies whatsoever that are mild and easily watchable by kids.

Secondly, the kid in question, who has been described as the 'poster boy' for this petition, is 8 years old. This argument loses before it even begins, because EVEN IF Deadpool is rated PG-13, the kid STILL cannot watch that movie without breaking the rule.

Thirdly, and I'm going back to something mentioned earlier in the article, 'Beyond The Trailer', who is supporting this petition, stated 'look Matthew in the eye and tell him the party is happening and you're not invited'. This is actually not even about the whole super-hero movie for kid anymore, it's more about the simple fact that perhaps parenting is not Grace's cup of tea, because it's a common reality that kids have to be told no at times. A kid comes up to you and wants to watch a movie with sex, violence and extremely strong language, and you did not instantly tell him he's not old enough to watch it? That's honestly weak parenting, not something that should be petitioned about.

It's like saying they should make a E for Everyone rated version of Grand Theft Auto so kids can play it, or making a PG-13 version of Pulp Fiction, removing the sexual content, the language and the drug use because a kid really wants to watch it.

General movies are full of sex, violence and strong language and they're regarded as art, and we're getting one movie based on a comic character made for ADULTS, that is rated R, and it's being treated like a crime for some reason.

EVEN if you consider making a PG-13 version of Deadpool, you're still forgetting that it's a movie about a person who KILLS people with SWORDS and GUNS, there is no way you can tone the movie down to the point it becomes appropriate for kids.

Meanwhile there's a new Spider-man movie possibly coming out, there's Captain America: Civil War, there's Batman v. Superman, a lot of other movies that children can watch that feature super heroes(although as mentioned earlier, even PG-13 movies are not appropriate for dear Matthew because he's only 8 years old).

So, this is why it's absolutely stupid to consider a PG-13 version of a movie that is based on a comic for grown adults, and the movie itself featuring violence, sex, language and a person who kills people with fatal weapons, there's just no way to make the movie kid-friendly in any way possible.

Deadpool will be hitting the theaters February 14, 2016.
