It's the first Friday of 2014! And here are the Friday News Bits of this week!



Singer Alicia Keys Is Leaving BlackBerry As It's Global Creative Director



Popular singer Alicia Keys is parting ways from BlackBerry, with whom she has been working with as it's Global Creative Director for an year. According to CTV, BlackBerry insisted that Alicia Keys had direct involvement in the company's operations, mainly on it's four-year scolarship program which is intended to encourage female individuals to enter the science and technology fields.

Although BlackBerry did not directly comment on 'why' the split is happening, it is widely assumed that it is being done because of the criticism this decision recieved. It was widely criticised as a way to boost sales and promote their BlackBerry 10 smartphones, rather than hire her for actual work. An incident that ocurred was that shortly afterwards the partnership began, Alicia Keys' Twitter account had a tweet posted from an iPhone, which caused everyone to question her loyalty with BlackBerry. To which Alicia Keys responded that her account was hacked.

She will officially step down on January 30.


UK Man Determined To Eat At All Nando's Branches Worldwide



A 26 years old man from St Albans, Hertfordshire(UK), Christopher Poole, spent over £1,000 in order to win a competition held by the resturant Nando's to win a "Black Loyalty Card", which includes eating in 85 UK branches of Nando's, only to find out that the competition which was run 2 years ago, was now closed. The Black Loyalty Card would give the holder free meals for life. In order to win it, the consumers had to prove that they ate at every single branch of Nando's worldwide. Christopher Poole dined at 85 UK branches and took pictures of himself along the way, not knowing the competition has been closed.

However, his quest has not been failed. Christopher contacted Nando's about the matter and Nando's has stated that it will still give him a Black Loyalty Card if he can eat in the other 900 branches of Nando's worldwide. Christopher Poole has stated:

Once I have done the UK, I am then going to move onto Australia where there are around 300 resturants. I am hoping to do as many as I can in just 40 days – I plan on eating Nando’s for every meal.
Twitter Launches Vine For The Web



Twitter has now launched Vine for the Web. It's basically like the mobile versions, simply logging in at vine.co and see your profile, home feed, like, comment and share videos. You can visit favorite users' profiles and videos as well.

Vine's web version comes with a web-exclusive feature called the TV Mode, which is "an entirely new way to watch Vine videos". By clicking the TV Mode button in the upper right corner of your feed or any profile, you can view a collection of videos in sequence and in full screen mode.


Kim Jong-un's Uncle Was Stripped Naked and Fed To 120 Hungry Dogs As His Execution



According to the reports of a Chinese newspaper, Kim Jong-un's uncle, Jang Song Thaek, and five of his aides were stripped naked and fed alive to hungry dogs who were reported to have been hungry for about 3 days. The execution lasted for about an hour as Kim Jong-un and "hundreds" of other officials watched. North Korea has not confirmed to this method of execution yet.


Facebook Has Been Sued For Searching Through Private Messages 




Two Facebook users have sued Facebook over allegations of searching through messages to share information with third parties for profits. The lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District Court of California by Facebook users Matthew Campbell and Michael Hurley, Facebook systematically scans private messages to "improve its marketing algorithms and increase its ability to profit from data about Facebook users. According to BBC News, the lawsuit is "claiming the greater of either $100 (£61) a day for each day of alleged violations or $10,000, for each user".

A spokeswoman for Facebook, Jackie Rooney, has stated that the allegations are "without merit".
