Microsoft Surface

Hello readers!
After the success of Apple iPad, Android powered tablets and almost every powerful tablet device out there, Microsoft has finally decided to make their move! The Microsoft Surface was announced by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer at a Los Angeles event on June 18, 2012, at Milk Studios.

The Microsoft Surface will be a series of tablet ultra-portable PCs. There will be two versions of Microsoft Surface, one known as ''Surface RT'' and the other known as ''Surface Pro''. The Microsoft ''Surface'' will run on Windows RT, the version of Windows 8 designed for tablets, and it will use a NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip, while the ''Surface Pro'' will run on Windows 8 Pro and use an Intel Atom chip.
The display of the Microsoft ''Surface'' will be a 10.6'', 16:9 widescreen HD Display, while the ''Surface Pro'' will have a Full HD Display. Both versions of the tablet will use Microsoft's ClearType HD display software and will support an ultra-wide viewing angle and auto-adjusting screen intensity. The "Surface RT" will be a good 9.3 mm, while the "Surface Pro" will be a bit thicker at 13.5 mm. Connectivity is something the Surface excels at: The "Surface RT" has microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2×2 MIMO antennas, while the "Surface Pro" has microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort Video, 2×2 MIMO antennas.

The Microsoft Surface tablets will be offered with two keyboard covers for Surface. ''Touch Cover'' and ''Type Cover''. Both, when folded up, serve as protective covers that connect to the Surface via a magnetic strip, and when opened, the covers will serve as keyboards. The ''Touch Cover'' is 3mm in thickness and has a touch-sensitive keyboard, while the ''Type Cover'' is thicker and includes a tactile keyboard. The keyboards have gyroscope and accelerometer sensors to determine, based on position, whether or not to accept input. Both also include a ''multitouch touchpad''.
The "Surface RT" will be available in 32 GB and 64 GB versions while the "Surface Pro" will be available in 64 GB and 128 GB versions.  There is currently no release date or pricing information announced yet.
