Tekken Fans Start Requesting a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 PC Port - And That's a Good Thing

with

The Tekken franchise has been dominating the world of fighting games for 28 years and counting, and there have been 7 mainline games with 3 proper spin-offs thus far. Of course, that's excluding all the unique editions, handheld ports, and side projects that we have seen on a large variety of platforms over time, such as Death by Degrees and Tekken Card on smartphones.

However, as surprising as it may be, despite the fact that the PC is such a major gaming platform as of today - we have only had one official Tekken release to date. That is Tekken 7, which is the most recent game in the series so far.

Normally, that might not be the most surprising thing since the latest fighting game installment is often a replacement for everything before it - if fans accept the game. And with Tekken 7's success, it can be said that the game has satisfied most fans.

But in the case of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, things are a bit different. That is because the Tag series is a spin-off of the main Tekken games and features a unique battle system in which each character selects two fighters each from the large roster. Not only that, but these games contain every single character from the series that have been added to the franchise up to the time of release.

And it's not just the tag aspect that's different, Tag 2 has no Rage Arts (which some prefer) and the gameplay mechanics are quite different in general. The game has lengthier combos and there are many unique things that you can do with your tag partner, which adds a whole new layer of things that you can do.

Not only that, but even smaller details like how characters interact with each other (neutral, friends, rivals) is a lot of fun to see. And other things like legacy stages, having dirt stick to your body, and so on - it's just a very fun game that is filled with an insane amount of fun and feels like a love-letter to longtime fans of the series.

Naturally, fans have been hoping for a PC port of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for ages and assumed it might get released as part of a random collection at some point. But with remasters becoming so common and fighting games doing better than they were a bit earlier, it feels like the perfect time for fans to ask for Tekken Tag 2 on PC while they patiently wait for the titular release of Tekken 8 soon.

After all, it's only the second-last game in the series right now and is wildly different to Tekken 8 - so it's the perfect game to port over right now. Sure, you can emulate it on PC, but as the official subreddit for this movement stated, it's not as perfect as an actual port with proper netcode.

A post detailing the issues with playing on emulation as compared to an official port

The people behind this movement raise very good points and it's just a no-brainer for Namco to invest in a good port of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on PC with stable netplay. And of course, if they have the resources, bringing the game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S would be a great idea too.

Tag 2 is one of the few games in the series that are still stuck on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U era of consoles and it's about time we bring it back to life, especially since it's such an underrated game that deserved to sell more.

You can visit the official subreddit for this by clicking 'here', and the Twitter account 'here'.

The numbers of the movement at the moment are low, but it's just a matter of exposure as thousands do want the re-release but no one has tried to gather those fans in one place before. With time, it will undoubtedly spread. With all of that said, we sincerely hope this port does happen because I would love for that game to exit the 7th generation curse. #Tag2forPC

Mortal Kombat X Is Apparently Selling 'Easy Fatalities' For Real Money

with

Remember when we used to buy extra skins and cheats through the Krypt? Remember that even earlier, we just had to input a cheat to enable options like extra time for entering fatalities? I do too, but that's just good old memories now.

NetherRealm Studios is apparently selling 'Easy Fatalities' for real cash, for either 30 fatalities altogether or by batches of 5.

'Easy Fatalities' are basically easy inputs for fatalities, which can be frustrating to pull off for some gamers. While they were rather simplified for Mortal Kombat 9 and were easier to enter, it seems it's been a bit hardened for Mortal Kombat X again, and the easy inputs are being sold.

A batch of 30 'Easy Fatalities' costs €3.99(or $4,99), while the batch of 5 'Easy Fatalities' costs €0.79(or $0.99). Also with them is a 'Blue Steel Sub-Zero' skin, but skins are pretty 'casual' as paid DLC these days.

Selling easy inputs for money. Literally.

Is this a new step for the dark world of DLC? Will others adapt to such things? Are you fine with it or is this a bad cash-in?

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition - 5 Playable Characters and PC Version Confirmed | UPDATE: Retail Release and Limited Edition in Japan

with

After rumors circulated around NEOGAF, Capcom has now officially confirmed that Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition will have a total of five playable characters, which include the returning Dante and Nero, as well as Vergil, Trish and Lady.

The PC version of the game is also confirmed through the most recent trailer of the game, which includes the Steam logo. This was also indirectly confirmed a bit earlier through the German game rating board USK, as it rated Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition for the PC platform.

Not only that, Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Devil May Cry 2, 3, and 4, has confirmed that the game will have new modes as well, along with 'gameplay improvements' which are not revealed yet, as well as visual improvements from it's seventh generation version.

Some detail about Vergil's gameplay has been revealed, which mentions that his gameplay will be based on his Devil May Cry 3 appearance, while also having a mix of his DmC: Devil May Cry counterpart. The detail about the gameplay is:

One of the biggest new attractions in Special Edition is that you will be able to play as Vergil, who has proven to be an extraordinarily popular character amongst fans. For his appearance in Special Edition, we’ve used his Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition rendition as a gameplay foundation, and added in elements of his DmC rendition to create the definitive version of the character.
We’ve also added in a brand new “Concentration” mechanic, which complements Vergil’s signature “iaijutsu” fighting style, making his attacks grow stronger and stronger the more calmly and flawlessly he fights. Additionally, the “Grim Trick” ability, which allows Vergil to teleport using his “Sword Illusions,” makes for an action experience that will feel new and distinctly different from that of Nero or Dante.
We also decided that we wanted to make Lady and Trish playable for the Special Edition. On top of the already playable Nero and Dante from the original game, this makes for a total of five playable characters in the game.

Much is not told about how Lady's gameplay will work, but it's said to be focused on use of fire-arms:
Lady, who is a playable character for the first time in the series, has a fighting style that is conceptually quite different from that of the other DMC4 characters, with a special emphasis on firearms. Lady’s focus on long-range fighting will feel like a completely different way to take on the action.

Trish's gameplay will revolve around the use of the Sparda Sword:
When playing as Trish, you will see that she does away with weapon switching, and instead makes skillful use of the Sparda sword in a variety of ways that require the use of relatively few buttons. This again makes for a play style that will feel distinctly different from anything you’ve seen in the game until now.

The console version of the game will now also include the PC-exclusive difficulty 'Legendary Dark Knight Mode'.

The game is also said to feature new/extra costumes that will also work within cut-scenes.

It's not revealed yet whether the game will feature story for any of the new characters, but fans are expecting Vergil to have a separate story-mode as he was seen in a new cutscene which was a teaser for his inclusion in the update.

The game is set to be released in Summer this year, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. The game is currently revealed to be only released through digital release; which means no disc release unlike DmC: Definitive, which had one. However, it's still possible for it to be out on disc release soon after the digital release, or maybe right with it.

Check out the most recent official trailer of Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, revealing the new playable characters and improved visuals, and the inclusion of the Steam logo which confirms the PC release:

UPDATE:

The game will be getting a retail/disc release exclusively in Japan for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There is also a limited edition of the game that will be sold through e-Capcom Store, also exclusive for Japan.

The Limited Edition contains a disc of the game, a 'Production Note', a "Premium Music Selection" soundtrack CD that includes 2 new soundtracks exclusive to this release, and the original box. What you'll also be getting with the limited edition(and also with the normal retail game if you order through e-Capcom) are 3 extra replacement 'jackets' for the game box, two extra costumes for Lady(DMC3 Lady outfit) and Trish(Gloria outfit), and a bonus of 300,000 Red Orbs for the game.

No retail release outside Japan is planned, which means no Limited Edition or extra replacement jackets, skins and red orb bonus outside of Japan, as other countries are only going to get a digital release. No PC version of the retail release and the limited edition is planned, not even for Japan.

Fans are greatly dishearted and are creating petitions against this decision, and are arguing about the fact DmC: Definitive Edition, the lower selling game and less-hyped game got a retail release worldwide, yet the much better selling, more content-packed and much more hyped Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition will be digital only aside from Japan.

Hideo Kojima Says Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Will Be His Last Metal Gear Game + Console and PC Release Date

with
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PC release date is confirmed

Hideo Kojima has stated in an interview that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be his last Metal Gear game, while also admitting the fact that he has made this statement earlier as well with previous Metal Gear games. However, he has stated that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the end of the 'Metal Gear' saga. The statement says:

I always say 'this will be my last Metal Gear', but the games in the series that I've personally designed and produced - Metal Gear on MSX, MG2, MGS1, 2, 3, 4, Peace Walker and now MGSV - are what constitute a single Metal Gear Saga. With MGSV, I'm finally closing the loop on the saga.

While stating that this will be the last Metal Gear game of the original saga, the franchise as a whole might continue:

In that sense, this will be the final 'Metal Gear Solid. Even if the 'Metal Gear' franchise continues, this is the last 'Metal Gear'.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to be released in September 1st of this year, while the PC version will be delayed until September 15, two weeks late. Like Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the game will be coming out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

German Game Rating Board, USK Rates Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition for PC

with
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition's PC version has been rated by the German game rating board, USK

The German game rating board, USK(Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle), has officially rated the upcoming Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition for PC(as well as other platforms). This could confirm that the game is coming to PC, whereas Capcom only mentioned the title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Capcom has not yet commented on this, but USK is the official game rating board of Germany, so it is not an unreliable source.

You can check the German game rating board's official site 'here'.

The game is set to be released sometime around Summer this year, and whether the PC port is delayed or released alongside the console versions, is unknown at the moment.

AMD Has Clarified That Richard Huddy "Misspoke" About Windows 7 Not Supporting DirectX 12

with

There were many reports stating that Windows 7 will not be supporting DirectX 12, coming from a video of AMD's Chief Gaming Scientist, Richard Huddy at the PDXLAN event. Richard Huddy stated on the event that Windows 7 will not support DirectX 12.

After that, every major news site spread the word and Windows 7 users were greatly disappointed, as well as websites making articles such as "it's time to upgrade your Windows".

However, AMD has clarified that Richard Huddy 'misspoke' about the topic. AMD issued a statement that says:

There have been reports based on a video of Richard Huddy of AMD making speculative comments around DirectX 12 support on versions of Windows. Richard Huddy does not speak for Microsoft, and he was unfortunately speculating from Microsoft’s publication of key dates and milestones for Windows 7 lifecycle and mainstream support policy. Richard has no special insight into Microsoft’s Windows or DirectX roadmaps. Microsoft is a key, strategic partner for AMD and we’re continuously collaborating with them on DirectX 12.
AMD has not stated whether DirectX 12 will be available for Windows 7 or not, but the statement made by Richard Huddy was misspeaking, and they do not have an insight on such things.

DirectX 12 has been said to be a "low level" graphics API and will include many improvements to existing graphics cards, a well as the Xbox One.

PC gamers who do not like Windows 8 are worried about this and are expressing great demand for DirectX 12's availability for Windows 7.

Microsoft has not made a statement regarding whether DirectX 12 will be supported by Windows 7 or not, but they have confirmed that they are aware of the demand.

Gamers who still use Windows 7 are awaiting an official confirmation from Microsoft on the topic.
